When five luxury flats are jostling for a sea view on a narrow site, what do you do? Stacking them is the obvious answer; but not if all apartments are to achieve best value.

Working within the constraints of a previously consented scale, bulk and mass Black have completely redesigned the scheme, creating five unique apartments, each exploiting the dramatic setting to its maximum. Sustainable luxury must be comfortable, so all internal walls are of masonry construction, creating a sense of robustness that is missing from most modern luxury homes. Thick plaster finishes with shadow gap detailing create a simple elegant interior, with full height doors and generous ceiling heights providing volume and light. Coffered ceilings in the principle rooms further accentuate the sense of spaces while concealing artificial lighting. A simple palette of white, washed and natural ash joinery contrasted with elephant grey terrazzo and ceramic tiling creates a sense of understated elegance, accentuated by bespoke, British made kitchens and staircases.
