To facilitate the detailed design of the new mixed-use development on the edge of the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal an underwater survey of the canal wall has been commissioned.
The survey will inform the final design of the building frame and how the ground floor amenity space will allow users of the refurbished Flora Hotel public house to access the edge of the water. Further studies include an assessment of how site demolition waste and construction materials can be transported by barge. Opportunities that will help bring the canal back to life and optimise the overall sustainability of a scheme that will deliver a 35% carbon saving.
Work is anticipated to commence on site during the first half of 2022 once all surveys and enabling works have been completed, with new residents able to enjoy canal side living in 2023.
