The Royal Society reports that displacement ventilation improves air quality and reduces the exposure risk to Covid. CIBSE and a range of London theatres, including the Palladium and Arcola, are coming to the same conclusion that ventilation is critical.
Projects delivered by Black for Phoenix Community Housing Association, CAFOD and The Institution of Civil engineers all utilise displacement ventilation to improve the air quality for occupants as part of a holistic conditioning strategy. These buildings now have the added benefit of reducing Covid risk when their staff return from lockdown.
A new office designed by Black in Southgate will employ the same ventilation strategy and Morley College’s concert hall is now seeking funding to adopt these principles and create a new multi-functional space as part of the practice’s masterplan.
