Basement foundations and ground level steelwork have now been installed on the retrofit element of the mixed-use project at 525 Harrow Road, enabling the upper floor reinforcement works and roof extension to progress.
The next phase of construction will include piling to the canal wall edge for the new build component of the development and the building of a cantilevered scaffold along the full length of the water’s edge to allow the concrete frame erection to commence. Follow on packages will include the in-situ cast concrete stair that winds up the eastern elevation and brickwork cladding with contemporary detailing. A mix of state and zinc roofs finish off the original and new buildings.
Decorative metalwork designs are being developed in collaboration with two artists working out of forge in Brixton, with the proposals due to be presented to Westminster planners in the coming weeks.
