Black Architecture have joined up with the project management team at Academy Consulting and Peter Dann structural engineers to reconfigure the existing kitchen at Whitchurch Primary School and Nursery in Harrow.
The proposals make changes to a previous kitchen extension to the original school to introduce an additional serving hatch and allow the preparation, cooking and clean up areas to be reorganised into a logical sequence of spaces. The adjustments are required to increase the capacity of the kitchen in response to a planned growth of pupil intake at the school. Works will be undertaken in summer 2023 in readiness for the new school year in September.
The review of options undertaken with the client has demonstrated that whilst modest, the design maximises the useable space within the kitchen with minimal disruption to the existing catering equipment and delivers more hot dinners.
