Black Architecture are working with the team at Kairos Community Trust to undertake a feasibility study that tests the extension and remodelling of one of the charity’s abstinence based move-on homes.
The purpose of the dwelling is to provide a home in the local environment for men and women who have completed detox and rehab, but also for those who have reached a point of 28 days abstinence and are committed to their recovery. The move-on homes are the stepping stone towards independent with residents having their own front door key. Support is offered to move into the workplace or to access education, with shared motivation from housemates.
The remodelled property will incorporate an increased number of individual bedrooms and enhanced bathroom facilities, as well as enlarged communal facilities on the ground floor for cooking, eating and socialising.
