Work has been progressing off site over the last few month to design and construct six modules that will be joined together to form the new office and welfare facilities for the refuse team at Three Rivers District Council.
Western Building Systems are now on-site diverting services and preparing to install piled foundations to enable the MMC modules to be craned into place. Once connected together, final internal fit out will be undertaken, and larch board and batten cladding fitted over the remaining joints to complete the external elevations.
The project includes site wide environmental improvements, increasing bio-diversity in an area affected by years of industrial operations. Measures include the planting of new fruit trees for mammals along the boundary and low-level habitat creation scheme adjacent to the River Colne canal. Otters will benefit from a holt and bird nesting boxes will be integrated into the existing mature trees.
