Following the completion of the new reception space at Morley College, Morley Radio has been officially launched.
The new radio studio forms part of the Morley College masterplan that Black Architecture gained planning consent for in 2016. Supported by the Mayor of London through Leap funding the radio station offers students at the adult education college an opportunity to learn new skills and have them broadcast across the network. The studio is constructed a space previously occupied by the main entrance, displaying the radio station activity to the passing world. The new entrance is under construction as part of the same planning consent.
Launch night saw the unveiling of the Engine Room, with the first release being a mix of music inspired by Holst’s Planets. Radio 3’s Max Reinhart turned up to sample the atmosphere and continue the debate about how Morley continues to challenge and inspire through its diverse programme.
