Black have secured planning consent on behalf of Hertsmere Borough Council for nine new 3 bedroom family homes on a former garage site at Catterick Way in Borehamwood. Three of the units are designed to be fully wheelchair accessible.
The building has been designed to LETI environmental standards and will deliver an 82% carbon saving against the 2021 Building Regulations. The project has also been subject to a Whole Lifecycle Carbon Assessment which has informed the adoption of wall hung clay tiling on a timber frame for the construction of the upper floors. As with other schemes the practice has designed, ASHP, MVHR and PV technology is integrated into the building in combination with an airtight and well insulated fabric.
All the apartments have private amenity space which look out onto Aberford Park and 1-to-1 EV car parking spaces concealed within the inner courtyard space. A new publicly accessible pedestrianised route connects the site to the surrounding streets.
