Western Building have now handed over the new office element of the project to the Three Rivers District Council refuse and recycling team, enabling them to vacate their old home ahead of dismantling.
The new accommodation provides a mixture of open plan office space, private meeting rooms and amenity facilities for the team operating on-site. Volumetric modern methods of construction, which use a hybrid timber and steel construction, deliver a highly insulated and air-tight envelope which is sealed on site. The modules were constructed in the factory and fitted with untreated Larch cladding. Matching timber cover strips were added to the module connections on site to finalise the facades.
Externally, environmental improvements have been undertaken along the perimeter of the site to provide new habitats for species that inhabit the water edge and live alongside the refuse team.
