Public consultation undertaken with residents and councillors
Black Architecture presented proposals to stakeholders for 32 social rent homes, as part of an extension to the Grovehill neighbourhood in Hemel Hempstead. The scheme will deliver low-cost dwellings as part of Dacorum housing programme.
To ensure new residents do not face fuel poverty the all-electric homes are designed to LETI performance standards, enabling them to be net zero carbon ahead of national targets. The fabric first approach with high thermal performance and air tightness is complemented with air source heat pumps and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. A bio-diversity net gain strategy will add a 10% habitat uplift.
Proposals are now being prepared in response to the consultation event, working closely with the client’s selected contractor Bugler Developments and project design team to finalise the stage 3 information ahead of a planning submission.
