A two day conference organised by the UKGBC at the St Vincent’s Centre in Victoria was the starting point for a six month exploration of a Sustainable Built Environment through Systems Change.
A series of presentations that highlighted the global impact of Climate Change on both communities and countries focused our thoughts, but also demonstrated what could to be achieved if we adopted a braver, first principles, thinking process. The initiative asked a wide ranging group of Built Environment specialists, from designers to financiers, to begin the journey and explore the subject of Systems Change. Examining our current System and fundamentally questioning its purpose.
To radically improve the Sustainability of the Built Environment we need a Third Way. We are therefore starting by asking the fundamental question of ourselves and our wider network, what is the Built Environment for? We await your thoughts.
