The London Borough of Enfield have granted planning permission for an additional floor of office accommodation at the South Point House development completed by Black earlier in the year.
The top floor extension is set back from the edge in response to a complex daylight sunlight analysis model that assesses the impact of the building on the surrounding commercial context. The third floor building form reflects the design of the lower levels with wrap around ribbon windows and adopts the grey stock brick materiality in response to the conservation area setting around the listed Southgate Underground Station designed by Charles Holden.
The existing building had been futureproofed to accommodate an additional floor with an extended lift core constructed as part of the initial phase of works. The new extension is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2025.
